Can I donate by check?
YES. However, if the check is not received on or before April 10, 2008 (3 days prior to the pageant), it will not count for whichever chapter you are donating on behalf of. If it is received after April 10, it will still be cashed and you will still be supporting two great organizations.
If you are donating via check, it should be made out to CU Miss Greek, and please write the name of the chapter you would like to support in the 'Memo' section. Checks should be mailed to:
Jackson Giles
Attn: CU Miss Greek
1047 13 St.
Boulder, CO 80302If you would like a receipt of contribution (necessary for tax deduction), please include a valid email address in the envelope with the check.
Are donations tax deductible?
Please read this entire section about tax exemptions!
We have just recently (as of September) formed as an official corporation within the State of Colorado. In order to act as a tax exempt organization, however, the IRS must confirm tax exempt eligibility and process the request. Although we have filed for exemption under IRS form 501(c)(3), our status has not yet been confirmed. While the application is waiting for approval from the IRS, we are still granted eligibility to operate as a tax-exempt organization.
For legal purposes, we cannot 100% guarantee that our status as a tax-exempt organization will be approved. However, it is highly unlikely that our application for exemption would be denied due to the philanthropic nature and support of the general public.
How can I be sure my donations are secure?
We have partnered with Wells Fargo Merchant Services for this specific reason, as their reputation for security and expertise in credit card handling is unparalleled. All transactions are encrypted, and NONE of your personal or sensitive financial information will ever be revealed.
How do I know where my money is going?
The best way is to see for yourself. Although the People's Clinic has merged with Clinica Campesina Family Health Services, please check out the People's Clinic web site to see the list of supporters. Sigma Pi Fraternity and CU Greek Sororities are listed under $25,000 to $49,000, currently. Also, in the interest of accountability, our board is composed of executives of each of our recipient organizations, who assist us in all aspects of managing finances.
